Your roles and responsibilities will include Medical and Palliative Care in:

The Medical Doctor is part of our HAART- and our care team, together with our Hospice Administrator, Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Care Givers and Volunteers.

Authorities: The Medical Doctor is answerable to our General Manager, to our Director and to our Medical Superintendent.

Your main tasks will include but not be limited to:

Management of the Residential Care, Home Care and HAART Departments.
Medical care of Hospice patients including:
- patients on HAART (mostly outpatients) and
- palliative care of up to forty inpatients
Medical supervision of up to 70 children in our Children's Home,
Medical supervision of our staff and volunteers.
Consultations, medical assessments, medical treatments, medical surveillance, medical procedures, prescriptions, dispensing of medication, admissions and discharges.
Actively participate in recruitment, grievance, disciplinary, health & safety, training & development and other staffing matters with support from the General Manager.
Take a proactive role in evaluating achievements and the performance of staff, ensuring continual improvements in the quality of services.

Requirements:

You must be a qualified Medical Doctor
You must already be registered with the HPCSA for independent practice and have a dispensing licence.
You must be bilingual in English and Zulu.
You must have at least 5 years experience in the medical profession (with traceable references).

It will be an advantage if:

you have experience in palliative care.
you have completed the Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) or Discovery course in HIV/AIDS management.
you have a Diploma in HIV/AIDS management.

Leave: Three weeks per annum (initially).

Hours of duty: Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00 hrs.

Salary package negotiable.

To start late February 2019 if possible.
