Jim Little

for his service at Blessed Gérard's Care Centre which runs
Blessed Gérard's Hospice, Blessed Gérard's Children's Home, Blessed Gérard's Community Development Centre, Blessed Gérard's AIDS Education Programme and Blessed Gérard's Friendship Club
in Mandeni / Zululand / South Africa.

Mr Jim Little arrived on 21 June 2002 and left us on 22 July 2002. He comes from Newcastle in England and is a student at Ushaw College in Durham. He is a seminarian preparing for the priesthood for Hexham and Newcastle Diocese and his vacation placement with us is part of his priestly formation. He is a Donat of Devotion of the Order of Malta and a member of its British Association.

We are very glad that he came to us to volunteer his many skills and experience helping us in our work for four weeks.

Admitting and caring for a patient dying from AIDS at Blessed Gérard's Hospice. Jim is highly motivated and has lots of professional experiece. Before he started his theological studies he was the business development manager for the North East Ambulance Service in England and is internationally known as an expert in neonatal ambulance transport.

Jim is a marvellous, empathetic, dedicated and responsible carer and brings a smile onto faces of those who have little to laugh about.

Nothing was too much, nothing too low for Jim. He is an outstanding good example in his care for the sick and terminally ill and for the children, too. He was absolutely professional in every situation.
